Art Exploration: Value Scale and Color Wheel

Image
Value Scale  Creating the Value Scale was interesting to me. I was amazed with the fact you can make such a dark tint on a piece of paper with just a pencil. Moving from dark to light, as I was shading I let the pencil get liter and liter. That way you could see the difference in the pencil shading. As I got closer to the last box I loosened my grip on the pencil. So that it would not be barely any pencil shading on the paper. I used a ruler to make boxes and straight lines. Color Wheel When creating the color wheel I used two paper plates. On the first paper plate I used the three primary colors Magenta, Cyan and Yellow. On the second paper plate I also have the three primary colors I just added the secondary colors. Making these color wheels were fun, I always get excited when using paint. It is amazing watching colors change into different colors when you mix them together.

Module 3: The Science of Color Perception

Color is created when a mixture of lights strike a certain object and reflects back to the cones in a eye, then those wavelengths travel to the brain. The word hue is also known as color because it makes up main properties of a color. Colors effect our emotions because it influences our brains to make us get aroused, have anxiety, and raise our pulses. It is fascinating that color really does not exist but our brains create illusions allowing us to see them. How color can have such an impact on our emotions and the way that we think. For instance when I see the color pink I instantly think of love, feminine, etc. With the color red I feel alert, aware of my surroundings. It is amazing that color can get our brains to feel and think about colors that are not really there. In the video "Do you see what I see, The science of color perception", what impressed me was when Dr. Beau Lotto did a series of experiments. In the experiment with color blocks multiple people, different...

My First Blog

Image
Hello everyone,  Going through the process of setting up another gmail account was not hard at all. I already had a Gmail account prior to having my Buffalo State student e-mail.  Setting up my blog was pretty cool. I never had a blog before so creating one was interesting for me. Getting to pick out the theme and layout for my blog was fun. I found a theme and layout that connected with me.  Some things that I would like to learn from this course are techniques and various art forms. There are a lot a ways you can present art to society. Learning about the history of art and where certain elements of art originated from would be something to learn about as well.  In my opinion, taking an online course is a much better approach for schooling when you have a lot on your plate. You do not have to constantly worry about being late to class or missing a class when something goes wrong. Me being a mother I do not have to worry about finding a babysitter when I need...
