The three masks that I chose to focus my inspiration on for this assignment were the Acient Chinese Culture masks. I decided to go with these mask because as a child my favorite childhood movie was Mulan. In that movie , even though it was a cartoon there was a lot of chinese culture masks present. I like the way these maks look because they have many different textures, shapes, colors and dimention to them. With the first mask the desription would be having sphere like horns coming out of the head. The eyes are bulging out of their sockets. It has a teeth like a vampire, very sharp K9 teeth. The tounge has muiltple colors it, blue red and green, and it kind of resembles a rattle snake tounge. The face of the mask is painted blue. There is a middle eye that is centered right above both eyes. The eyebrows have flame like motion in them spiraling outwards. Around the mouth you can see the same thing the flame like motion. On the forehead around the eyebrows you a can see...

I think using my hands as subject matter was interesting. Doing this assignment made me focus more on the detail of lines throughout my hands. The more I starred at my hands, I studied the form in witch my hands were structured. That made it easier for me to sketch them out on paper. The type of media I used to sketch my hands was a pencil. I chose this media because personally I feel like charcoal is hard to erase, its darker then a pencil and it gets everywhere on your hands. With a pencil you can make light marks and it barely shows up on the paper. It is also easier using a pencil because you can make light and dark shadings with it. When trying to sketch my non-dominant hand it was definitely a challenge for me because I have never tried to draw with that hand before. My dominant hand is my left hand as far as writing goes but I do everything with my right hand. Drawing my left hand with my right hand was hard because I never thought to use my right hand when it comes to drawi...

Charles E Burchfield (1893-1967) His artworks made the biggest impression on me, mainly because his pieces of artwork are so original. You can tell he really took his time when creating his pieces. I like looking at modern art work. I did not exist around the time he was alive so looking at his artwork gave me a feel of how his time period was. One of Charles E Burchfields pieces of artwork that I found interesting was his "Tracing of two Ravines,1943. " I found this tracing interesting one because it demonstrates what we have learned so far in class. The elements of arts lines, value and space. This tracing looks like its a lot to look at but once you've stood there for a while you start to visualize what he is trying to depict in the tracing. My second interesting piece of artwork from Charles E Burchfield is his watercolor on paper called "Wild sweet Peas in a summer Rain, 1965." This painting was interesting to me because the contrast of color moving...

Value Scale Creating the Value Scale was interesting to me. I was amazed with the fact you can make such a dark tint on a piece of paper with just a pencil. Moving from dark to light, as I was shading I let the pencil get liter and liter. That way you could see the difference in the pencil shading. As I got closer to the last box I loosened my grip on the pencil. So that it would not be barely any pencil shading on the paper. I used a ruler to make boxes and straight lines. Color Wheel When creating the color wheel I used two paper plates. On the first paper plate I used the three primary colors Magenta, Cyan and Yellow. On the second paper plate I also have the three primary colors I just added the secondary colors. Making these color wheels were fun, I always get excited when using paint. It is amazing watching colors change into different colors when you mix them together.

Color is created when a mixture of lights strike a certain object and reflects back to the cones in a eye, then those wavelengths travel to the brain. The word hue is also known as color because it makes up main properties of a color. Colors effect our emotions because it influences our brains to make us get aroused, have anxiety, and raise our pulses. It is fascinating that color really does not exist but our brains create illusions allowing us to see them. How color can have such an impact on our emotions and the way that we think. For instance when I see the color pink I instantly think of love, feminine, etc. With the color red I feel alert, aware of my surroundings. It is amazing that color can get our brains to feel and think about colors that are not really there. In the video "Do you see what I see, The science of color perception", what impressed me was when Dr. Beau Lotto did a series of experiments. In the experiment with color blocks multiple people, different...

Hello everyone, Going through the process of setting up another gmail account was not hard at all. I already had a Gmail account prior to having my Buffalo State student e-mail. Setting up my blog was pretty cool. I never had a blog before so creating one was interesting for me. Getting to pick out the theme and layout for my blog was fun. I found a theme and layout that connected with me. Some things that I would like to learn from this course are techniques and various art forms. There are a lot a ways you can present art to society. Learning about the history of art and where certain elements of art originated from would be something to learn about as well. In my opinion, taking an online course is a much better approach for schooling when you have a lot on your plate. You do not have to constantly worry about being late to class or missing a class when something goes wrong. Me being a mother I do not have to worry about finding a babysitter when I need...
